ABOUT FOR.ALL
My Mission
A daily routine such as oral hygiene can easily be overlooked. According to CDC.gov, 1 in 4 adults have untreated tooth decay, estimated to be 26% of the U.S. population. Hence, my mission is to encourage the practice of healthy oral hygiene and introduce cases varying from common to anomalous conditions. I strive to educate individuals about the pertinence of oral health through casual blogs and interviews, hoping to take a step towards spreading awareness FOR.ALL.
The Story
My interest in oral health stemmed from my primary curiosity in biology. During the pandemic year of 2020, my first biology teacher relapsed from oral cancer. After learning about the cell cycles and mutations in the body, I was astounded to discover that critical diseases, such as cancer, could be interconnected to the oral system. Moreover, I grasped that the oral system is just as intricate and crucial to the body's overall health as other systems. According to a nationwide survey, 62% of adults were ignorant of oral cancer, with only 29% having been screened for the disease. Oral maladies are extensive and can range from a mild cavity to a severe case of periodontitis, which can contribute to fatal illnesses related to other body systems. From this insight, I feel inclined to spreading awareness and educating individuals about the significance, maintenance, and recommendations for preserving oral health.
